Nekisha Durrett earned her BFA at the Cooper Union in New York City and MFA from the University of Michigan School of Art and Design. Durrett lives and works in Washington, DC where she creates large-scale public art, installations, and drawings resulting from her longtime interest in the graphic style of comics and advertising. Durrett’s work seeks to manifest presence through arresting imagery and scale while bringing to the fore figuration and language that is often underrepresented or overlooked in visual culture.
