Colombian-born and Brooklyn-based, Alixa Garcia is a multidisciplinary artist who has infused our movements for justice with healing and imagination for over 18 years, inspiring thousands through her visual art, world music, sustainable touring, community organizing, and award-winning multimedia performances as co-founder of Climbing PoeTree. She has exhibited her visual art at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the Pop-Up Museum in New York City, and the Manifest Justice Exhibition in Los Angeles, which included world-renowned artists Shepard Fairey, Hank Willis Thomas, and Swoon. She has created large-scale murals in New York City, Cuba, and Jamaica, and was commissioned by Tony Award-winning author Eve Ensler for a large-scale mural in her home. Garcia is a visual art awardee of the Global Arts Fund/Astrea, the National Association of Latino Arts & Culture, and the Rising Fund, and has received multiple prestigious artist residencies from Blue Mountain Center and Omega Institute. Through her work, Alixa is committed to overcoming destruction with creativity.
